She was a native of Norfolk and the daughter of Audrey Lathan Jones. She worked as a clerk in Hawkins Grocery Store. She lived in New York for many years before returning to Norfolk. She ventured into the music industry and made two records, "Lazy Lover" and "Mr. Fix-It:. She is survived by her daughter, Tina Lathan of Richmond; her son, Terry Lathan of Norfolk; two sisters, Carolyn Hill of Richmond and Lynda Lewis of Norfolk; one brother, Thomas Lathan of Norfolk; one grandson; one nephew; one aunt; two uncles; one sister-in-law; and several cousins. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in New Central Baptist Church, 714 Walker Ave., Norfolk, by the Rev. Freddie Barnes. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Viewing wil be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Riddick Funeral Home.
