Norfolk Virginian Pilot Monday March 16, 1942
Matthew B. Halstead, aged 87, of 920 Franklin avenue, South Norfolk, died 
yesterday at 5:50 o'clock at a local hospital. A native of Norfolk County, 
he had made his home in this section all his life. He was the son of the 
late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Halstead. Mr. Halstead was well known and was a 
retired boilermaker in the Navy Yard. He was a member of the South Norfolk 
Baptist Church.
The body was removed to the Graham Funeral Home, Jackson and Jefferson 
streets, South Norfolk, where funeral services will be conducted tomorrow 
afternoon at 4 o'clock. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
