Halstead, aged 80, died at 6:25 a.m. yesterday at the home of his sister, Mrs. Samuel D. Rhodes, 401 Botetourt street. He was a native of Norfolk, but for more than 50 years had made his home at Poplar Branch, N.C., returning to Norfolk only a short time ago. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and of Poplar Branch Methodist Church. Besides his sister, Mrs. Rhodes, he is survived by three nieces, Mrs. Leigh Gordon Sykes and Miss Maude Halstead Rhodes, of Norfolk and Mrs. James R. Thomson, of San Diego, Cal. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Gregory funeral home, corner Thirtieth and Granby streets. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Friends have been requested to omit flowers.
