Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark January 29, 1918
Mrs. Mary Frances Halstead died yesterday morning at her residence, 61 
Chesapeake avenue, South Norfolk, in the 74th year of her age and after a long 
illness.  She was the widow of A.M. Halstead, and is survived by one daughter, 
Mrs. J.T. Smith of South Norfolk and a sister, Mrs. Catherine Williams of 
HIckory, Va., also the following grandchildren:  Mrs. W.A. Smith, Mrs. L.C. 
Capehart, Charleston, S.C., Mrs. W.E. Wood of Norfolk, Mrs. E.L. Baker, Suffolk, 
Va., Misses May Smith, Ella and Myree Hutchings of South Norfolk, Messrs. Hall 
Smith and Roland Hutchings of South Norfolk, Charles Hutchings of Blacksburg, 
Va.
Mrs. Halstead was a member of the Mount Pleasant Methodist Church, Norfolk 
County.
The funeral will take place from the above residence Wednesday afternoon at 3 
o'clock and will be conducted by Rev. C.E. Pleasants, assisted by Rev. J.O 
Babcock, pastor of the Liberty Street Methodist Church.  The interment will be 
in Magnolia Cemetery.
