The Norfolk Virginian Pilot Wednesday April 10, 1946


Arthur Lee Halstead, 53, husband of Carrie Overby and son of the late Caleb and 
Martha Deal Halstead, died at the residence, 1431 Lafayette Boulevard, 
yesterday afternoon at 6:45 o'clock after a long illness. Besides his wife he 
is survived by four sons, Arthur Lee Jr., Frank W Halstead Jr., Clyde Overby, 
and James Ralph Halstead, all of Norfolk; two brothers, Lieut. John D. 
Halstead, U.S.N., and Robert Wingfield Halstead of High Point, N.C., a 
grandson , Arthur L. Halstead, 3rd., and an aunt, Mrs. Mamie Harrison, of 
Princess Anne County. 

Mr. Halstead was a lifelong resident of Norfolk, a member of Charity Methodist 
Church and for a number of years was very active in amateur sports. He was in 
the employ of R.R. Richardson & Co. for the past 13 years and was a member of 
the Carpenters Union No. 331. 

The body was taken to the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home pending funeral 
arrangements.
