Halstead. Mr. Halstead was well-known in this city, where he was a member of Pickett-Buchanan Camp of Confederate Veterans, having served through the war in the Norfolk Light Artillery Blues. His funeral will take place this afternoon at 5:30 o’clock, and Pickett-Buchanan Camp will attend in a body. The Norfolk Landmark Fri., July 13, 1888 The Funeral of R.T. Halstead, whose death at the Confederate Soldiers’ Home in Richmond Wednesday was noticed in yesterday issue, took place from St. Luke’s P.E. Church, at 6 o’clock yesterday afternoon, and was largely attended. Norfolk Lodge No. 38 B.P.O. Elks, and Pickett-Buchanan Camp, of both of which organizations he was a member, were present. The solemn funeral services of the Episcopal Church, both at the church and grave, were conducted by Rev. A.S. Lloyd. The interment was in the Elks’ Rest, in Elmwood Cemetery. The floral tributes were very handsome, notably one sent by the Elks. The following were the pall-bearers: Confederate Veterans-Maj. Chas Pickett, Captain E.M. Henry and Commander J.W. Thomas, Jr. Elks-Wm. Linn, John S. Holmes and Chas. Hatfield, Citizens-R.H. Gwaltney and Wingfield Roberts.
