Norfolk Virginian-Pilot, March 20, 1945 

Joseph Wilson Halstead, 56, son of the late A. W. Halstead and Annie Scott 
Halstead, died at a local hospital yesterday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. He is 
survived by a brother, George W. Halstead, of Fox Hall, and a half-sister, Mrs. 
Rosa Shipp, of Ford Park. Mr. Halstead was a native of Norfolk County and had 
been a resident of Norfolk for 36 years. He was a member of Doric Lodge No. 44, 
A. F. & A. M.; Ionic Chapter, No. 56, R. A. M.; Grice Commander No. 16, K. T.; 
Khedive Temple, A. A. O. N. M. S., a veteran of World War I and was in the 
grocery business.
 Funeral services will be conducted at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home tomorrow 
afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
