Halstead, was found dead in his bed at No. 78 Main Street, where he has been rooming for the last three months. The discovery of his death was made by the chambermaid of the house, who after several attempts, at different times, to get into the room, looked through the glass pane above the door and saw him lying on the bed apparently dead. A police officer was called in, the coroner was notified, and an inquest held over the body. The jury, consisting of the following gentlemen, returned a verdict to the effect that the deceased came to his death from unknown causes, W.B. Roberts, W.J. Robins, D. Humphreys, Henry Clark, Geo W. Rhea and C.B. Langley. There were no evidences of violence on the body and no grounds for the supposition that the deceased committed suicide. Mr. Halstead had recently returned from the West, where he had been for some time and has relatives in the city who will doubtless take charge of his remains.
