Virginian-Pilot November 24, 1917
James E. Hambury died yesterday morning at 6:10 o'clock at his residence, 736 East 
Twenty-sixth street, following an illness of several months. He was a native of 
Norfolk and was 67 years old. He was an employee of the navy yard, and was well 
known and highly esteemed. He is survived by his wife and a sister, Mrs. E. J. 
Holmes. He was a member of Norfolk Lodge, No. 32, Odd Fellows. The funeral will 
take place at the residence tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock, and will be conducted 
by Rev. J. S. Meredith, of Ascension Episcopal church. The burial will be in Cedar 
Grove cemetery.
