Abner Hammond, 51, of 936 Jefferson Street, died at his home April 27 and his 
funeral was held from the New Calvary Baptist Church with the pastor, the Rev. D. 
Y. Campbell, officiating, May 1. The deacons of the church acted as pallbearers. 
Mr. Hammond was a charter member of the church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. 
Rachel Hammond, and a daughter, Mrs. Naomi Fields. Interment in Calvary Cemetery.
