He was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Armand V., Colbert T. and Joseph Raleigh Hanbury; one daughter, Mrs. Mildred Hanbury Leake; one granddaughter, Patricia Anne Leake; two grandsons, Armand V. Hanbury, Jr., and George Raleigh Hanbury, all of Norfolk; four brothers, Harry W., Emmett Cecil, and Howard Earl Hanbury, of Norfolk, and F.H Hanbury, of Farmville; six sisters, Mrs. J.E. Nichols, Mrs. R.D. Hall, Mrs. M.A. Hogan, Mrs. C.L. Madrin, Mrs. D.W. Holland and Mrs. C.K. Barrett, all of Norfolk. The body was taken to the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments.
