Hancock Benjamin Hancock, thirty-one years old, who died at the city almshouse, was buried yesterday at Elmwood Cemetery. The funeral services, conducted by Rev. J.B. Merritt, of the Seamen's Bethel, was attended by only a few patients at the almshouse and the two little orphan girls of the dead man. Hancock had been in bad health for some time and was finally forced to become an object of charity, his nearest relatives being too poor to render him assistance. "In my position," said Mr. Merritt last night, "I see many sad sights, but the funeral I conducted this evening, with those two little girls standing at my side, hardly old enough to appreciate their loss was heart-touching in the extreme."
