The Norfolk Virginian Pilot Tuesday June 15, 1943


Sallie Runaldue Hancox, aged 78, widow of William Henry Hancox and daughter of 
the late John A. and Mrs. Sarah Smith Runaldue, died at 1:30 o’clock yesterday 
morning at a local hospital. Mrs. Hancox, a native and lifelong resident of 
Norfolk, resided at 354 Hamilton Avenue. Surviving her are, one son, Ralph 
Hancox, of Norfolk; two daughters Miss Josephine Hancox, of Norfolk and Mrs. 
Thomas Norman, of Baltimore, and three grandchildren Vern Jo Norman and Thomas 
Norman, Jr., of Baltimore, and Mary Virginia Hancox, of Norfolk.
Services will be held at the chapel of the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 
Colonial Avenue today at 12 o’clock noon. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
