C. HANNAN, FORMER HOTEL MAN, DIES HERE Native of Norfolk Had Lived in Youngstown, Ohio, Many Years Michael Carroll Hannan, aged 61, well known in Norfolk and in Youngstown, O., died yesterday morning at 7:50 o'clock at a local hospital after a brief illness. Mr. Hannan, a native of Norfolk, moved to Youngstown about 40 years ago where he was engaged in the hotel business. He returned to Norfolk about two years ago and made his home at 1601 West Ocean View Avenue, Willoughby Beach. He was president of the Ohio Hotel Operating Company and was identified with other business enterprises, being part owner of the Strand Theatre of Youngstown. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, B. P. O. Elks, Rotary and Country Club of Youngstown. Declined Candidacy Some years ago his friends in the Ohio City urged him to become a candidate for mayor but Mr. Hannan declined to enter politics. He was a son of the late William M. and Mrs. Annie Trenor Hannan. His father was one of Norfolk's best known citizens and served as a member of the Board of Control and City Sergeant. Besides his wife, Mrs. Mary McElroy Hannan, Mr. Hannan is survived by two daughters, Miss Mary Virginia Hannan and Miss Trenor Hannan; two sons, William C. Hannan and Mark Carroll Hannan, all of Norfolk; a sister, Miss Mary C. Hannan, of New York and two brothers, James T. Hannan, of Norfolk and William M. Hannan, Jr., of New York. The body will be taken from the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 Colonial Avenue, to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ocean View, for funeral services tomorrow morning at 10:30 o'clock. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary services will be held tonight at 8 o'clock at the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments. ************************************************************************* Michael Carroll Hannan - Funeral services for Mr. Hannan, whose death occurred Wednesday, were held at 10:30 o’clock yesterday morning at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ocean View, with the Rev. R. B. Kealey, the pastor, officiating. The Rev. P. C. Blackburn, the Rev. M. J. Harrison, the Rev. A. J. Taylor, the Rev. A. Preston Campbell and the Rev. J. E. Fitzpatrick were in the sanctuary. In his address at the conclusion of the mass, Father Kealey paid high tribute to the Christian life and character of Mr. Hannan. During the service, Dr. J. J. O’Keefe sang, “Lead, Kindly Light” and “Abide with Me,” with Mrs. James Hughes as organist. There was a large attendance and a profusion of floral offerings. The casket was covered with a pall of red roses and fern. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were B. Gray Tunstall, A. Plummer Pannill, Col. Charles H. Consolvo, Walter H. Taylor, III, Mordaunt Etheredge, E. J. Gorman, Joseph P. Bond, Jesse Howe, Neff Salomonsky, James H. Johnston, Thomas O’Keefe and Frank Tarrall. Services at the cemetery were conducted by Father Campbell.
