Hannan, Former Deputy, Dies Suddenly James T. Hannan, formerly active in Norfolk politics, died yesterday morning at the Monticello Hotel, which had been his home for several years. His body was found in bed in his room about 10:45 o'clock and death was attributed to a heart attack. It is believed he died in his sleep. He was a close friend of the late Col. Charles H. Consolvo, owner of the Monticello, and his friends say he was noticeably shocked by the latter's death. Hannan was a son of the late William M. Hannan, who was City Sergeant of Norfolk and at one time a member of the Board of Control, which directed the affairs of the municipal government. His mother was the late Mrs. Annie Trenor Hannon. While his father was city sergeant, James Hannan served as a deputy and was active in business enterprises. He was closely identified with politics, wielding considerable influence in the local political organization of which the late James V. Trehy and James E. Prince were the recognized leaders. His father was for years a member of the firm of Hannan & Kelley which operated one of the largest livery and sales horse stables in the South. James Hannan was listed as manager. During World War I he and his brother, William M. Hannan, now of New York, represented Maxwell & Crouch in the Hampton Roads area in the shipment of thousands of horses and mules to France. In addition to his brother, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. James T. Hannan, and several nieces and nephews. The body will be taken from the H.D.
