Virginian Pilot November 3, 1905 
 Henry C. Hardy, Jr., formerly of this city, died at the Hahneman hospital, New 
York City, Wednesday, from an operation for appendicitis.  The deceased was the 
son of Henry C. Hardy and brother of Caldwell Hardy.  He was born in Brooklyn, 
N.Y., but passed his youth in Norfolk.  For more than 25 years he had been a 
resident of New York and was connected with a brokerage firm in Wall street.  He 
married in New York, where he is survived by a widow and two children.  His 
remains will reach here over the New York, Phadelphia and Norfolk railway this 
morning, accompanied by his nephew, Russell Hardy, of New York, son of Caldwell 
Hardy, of Norfolk.  The funeral will be held at noon today from St. Paul's 
Episcopal Church and will be conducted by Rev. Dr. B.D. Tucker.

The remains of the late Henry C. Hardy, Jr., whose death occurred in New York 
Wednesday, arrived in Norfolk yesterday morning.
The funeral was held from St. Paul's Episcopal Church at noon and was attended 
by a large concourse of the friends of the deceased.  The service was conducted 
by Rev. Dr. B.D. Tucker, rector of the church.  There was a profusion of 
beautiful floral tributes.  The remains were laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery.  
Following were the pallbearers:  L.W. Tazewell, C.G. Waller, A.B. Swarzkopf, 
C.G. Hunter, C.W. Grandy, Jr., O.B. Bidwell, James Riddle and Pay Director W.W. 
Galt, U.S.N.
