Mrs. Hardy was born in Norfolk, the daughter of the late Nathaniel and Winnie Byrd Speaks. She was the former owner of Regal Beauty Nook and was a member of Abundance of Life Church. Survivors include her husband, William H. Hardy; two sons, George Theodore Granberry and William Hardy Jr.; four sisters, Eloise Wiggins, Marilyn Whaley, Constance Hill and Margaret Ramsey; two brothers, Nathaniel B. Speaks Jr. and Eddie Byrd; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three foster children, Charles Brooks, Regina Ross and Samuel Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her two loving daughters, Carolyn and Joyce. A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Abundance of Life Church by the Rev. Donnie Small. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Riddick Funeral Service.
