Born in Norfolk, Mr. Hardy had retired as a dispatcher for Camellia Foods after 30 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was Catholic by faith. Survivors include five daughters and their husbands, Sharon and Ray Crosby of Virginia Beach, Chris and Ed Williams, Kathleen and Bill Keeble, all of Norfolk, Susan and Ron Miles of Stafford, Va., and Mary Hardy of Norfolk; a son and his wife, Michael and Lisa Hardy of Suffolk; 16 grandchildren, Wayne Crosby, Sharay Hunt, Wade Crosby, Lynn Crosby, Dawn Gjellstad, Thomas Williams, Bobby Williams, Larry Williams, Buffie Stewart, R.J. Miles, Ami Santschi, Justin Miles, Chad Miller, Kristie Miller, Jessica Hickman and Morgan Hardy ; and six great- grandchildren, Ray Hunt, Katelyn Hunt, Devon Stewart, Michelle Francis, Donovan Fulford and Kyle Hunt. A graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Cemetery, Norfolk. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is in charge. There will be no visitation at the funeral home, however, friends may call at his residence after 1 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
