Norman Harley, a retired longshoreman, died on Oct. 5 in a Norfolk hospital
following a prolonged illness at the age of 71.

Funeral services were held at Metropolitan AME Zion Church on Monday, Oct. 8, at
2 p.m.  The pastor, the Rev. R. A. Councill, officiated.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Sarah Harley;  one daughter, Mrs. Bertha
Riddick, Hackensack, N.J.; one son, John Harley, New York City; three
grandchildren, Miss Norman Harley, New York City; Miss Andra Harley, Hackensack,
NJ, and Sgt. John Harley Jr., Florida; five sisters, several nieces and nephews
and other relatives.

Burial was in Calvary cemetery with Riddick funeral service in charge of funeral
arrangements.
