VIRGINIA BEACH - Mary Patterson Harold of 5716 University Place died Friday in a 
hospital.

She was a native of Norfolk and the widow of Charlie Harold. She had retired 
from a job at the Norfolk Naval Supply Center after 23 years.

Mrs. Harold was a member of New Calvary Baptist Church. St. Thomas Chapter 51 of 
Order of the Eastern Star, and United Order of Tents No. 1.

Survivors include three daughters, Rosa P. Spady and Mary E. Lamb, both of 
Norfolk, and Geraldine P. Hinton of Virginia Beach; four sons, William H. 
Patterson Jr., Hilton T. Patterson and Melvin R. Patterson, all of Norfolk, and 
Col. John T. Patterson of Fort Monmouth, N.J.; two sisters, Flora Hector and 
Gertrude Murray, both of New York City; 33 grandchildren; seven step 
grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in new Calvary Baptist Church by Dr. 
Milton A. Reid. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

The family will be at Hale Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday and at the home 
of Elbert and Ross Spady, 5382 Coachway Drive, Norfolk.
