Harper Dies in Toledo SOUTH NORFOLK - Joseph N. Harper, 50, of 1315 Seaboard Ave., superintendent of construction for the F.S. Royster Co., died Tuesday at 2:15 p.m. in Toledo, Ohio, after a heart attack. He was there on business. A native of South Norfolk, he had lived here all his life. He was a member of the South Norfolk Congregational Christian Church, was past chancellor of Willie Lee Lodge 119, Knights of Pythias, and a member of the Norfolk Chapter of Dokkies. He was the son of the late Walter E. and Mrs. Bessie Boyette Harper, and husband of Mrs. Ada Spencer Harper. Besides his wife, surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Carlton Spence of Roanoke; two sons, Joseph Harper and Donald G. Harper, both of South Norfolk; one brother, W. Paul Harper, of South Norfolk; five sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Early, Mrs. J.L. Pierce and Mrs. C.T. Venters, all of South Norfolk; Mrs. R.P. Pierce of Charleston, S.C., and Mrs. D.A. Sherrard of Norfolk, and one grandson. The body will arrive today at 5:30 p.m,. and be taken to the Francis A. Gay Funeral Home. Time of the funeral will be announced later.
