The Virginian Pilot July 26, 1938
Dorothy Irene Harper, age 9 years, of Martinsville, died yesterday morning at 
10:30 o'clock in a local hospital while visiting here. She was the daughter of 
Jessie Lee and Louise Williams Harper. Besides her parents, she is survived by 
five sisters, Mrs. Margaret Bateman, Mrs. Nelson Bassett, Misses Mabourlean, 
Shirley and Betty Harper; three brothers, Charles, Wilbur, and Bobby Harper, 
and one half-brother, Jessie Williams. The body was removed to the Graham 
Funeral Home, Jefferson and Jackson streets, South Norfolk, where funeral 
services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Burial will be in 
the Riverside Memorial Park.
