Princess Anne Road, went to eternal rest April 28, 2001, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Mr. Harper was born Nov. 25, 1916 in Fayetteville, N.C. ``Banjie Boy,'' as he was affectionately known, was a member of Holy Jerusalem Church of God in Christ in Norfolk. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered in the days and years to come. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Della A. Harper, formerly of Norfolk and is survived by two nieces, Juanita L. Meekins and Cora E. Crossling, both of Fayetteville; as well as a host of great-nieces and -nephews. ``Laddie'' worked as a barber for many years in Norfolk. He also worked for the City of Norfolk until his retirement in February of 1987. His passion was music. Banjie Boy performed with many groups that performed throughout the country and the city of Norfolk to the delight of many. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thurday at Holy Jerusalem COGIC in Norfolk by the Rev. Queenie Barton. Burial service will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Norfolk. Graves Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
