Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Friday, August 29, 2003 
Floretta L. Harrington of the 4800 block of Afton Court died Aug. 26, 2003 in
her residence.

A native of Norfolk, she retired from the Virginia Beach school system's dietary
department and was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church. She was a loving,
caring and devoted mother and grandmother who wore an infectious smile. She
lived her life unselfishly and always gave and expected nothing in return.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph H. Harrington Sr.; three daughters, Gloria
J. Cason and husband Izell of Tacoma, Wash., Barbara A. Cason and husband
William of Chesapeake and Loretta M. Harrington of Virginia Beach; four sons,
William G. Harrell Jr. and wife Vera of Detroit, Mich., Joseph H. Harrington Jr.
and wife Gail of Dallas, Texas, Kirk J. Harrington and wife Francesca of
Franklin, Va., Bryon F. Harrington and wife Renaye of San Antonio, Texas; 14
grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and
friends. She was predeceased by two sons, Leighton E. Harrington and Michael R.
Harrington.

A funeral will be held at noon Saturday in First Calvary Baptist Church by the
Rev. Dr. J.L. White Sr. with burial in Calvary Cemetery . The remains will be
ready for viewing today from 3:30 to 8 p.m. Mrs. Harrington will be placed in
the church at 10 a.m. The family will assemble at 217 Tree Fern Drive at 11 a.m.
Saturday for the procession. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial
donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk,
VA 23513. Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel,
www.carlosahowardfuneralhome.com, is in charge.
