Funeral notice will appear later. ************************************************************ The funeral of Mrs. Mattie Harris, wife of W.W. Harris, who died at New Bern, N.C., Friday evening at 7 o'clock, will be conducted at the residence of her brother-in-law, J.D. Howard, Poplar Avenue and Stafford Street. Burial will be in the family lot in Magnolia Cemetery. Mrs. Harris had been sick some time, but her condition was thought to be improved Friday, so much that her husband who is in the employ of the Virginia Sand & Gravel Company with headquarters at Petersburg, left his home Friday morning for that place. Mrs. Harris was many years a resident of Berkley and was about 55 years of age. She moved from here to Gilmerton, where her husband was for many years in the employ of the John L. Roper Lumber Company. She had a host of friends here who will regret to learn of her death. She is survived by her husband and five children: Bernard, Henderson and Raymond Harris, Martha and Kathleen Harris and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. L.B. Rogerson of Petersburg, Mrs. J.D. Howard of Berkley, Mrs. C.E. Leary of Gilmerton and T.F. Bernard of Goldsboro, N.C. The body arrived here yesterday morning and was taken to the home of her sister, Mrs. J.D. Howard.
