She was the widow of Robert Henry Harris, who preceded her in death several years ago. For 93 years, Mrs. Harris had been a faithful member of the historic First Calvary Baptist Church, Norfolk, where she was active with the senior choir, the missionary circle and the usher board. Upon taking up residency at the adult care center, she became the often-featured vocalist with the Red Coats, a local band assembled to entertain seniors in residence at health care centers throughout the area. Declining health forced her into total retirement for the last several months. She is survived by several relatives, among whom are two nieces, Mrs. Selena Baker of Norfolk and Mrs. Myrtle Russell of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and her grandchildren, the Rev. Dala Nottingham of Norfolk and the Theodore Harris family of Philadelphia. She had two special friends, George and Dorothy Joyner. Graveside rites will be conducted by Dr. Robert G. Murray, pastor of First Baptist Church, at noon Tuesday in Calvary Cemetery . Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 11:45 a.m. Hale Funeral Home is in charge.
