Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Sunday, January 7, 1996 
Minnie L. Harris, 80, of the 800 block of Washington Ave., died Jan. 4, 1996, in
Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital.

She was a native of Portsmouth and the daughter of the late John and Ethel Lee.
She was a member of St. John A.M.E. Church, Norfolk, where she was a member of
the Stewardess Board (NU)4; Usher Board (NU)2; the Gospel Choir, Douglas
Studivant Sunday school class, Dorothy Jacobs Fellowship Group; and the Nanny
Phelps Missionary Society. Mrs. Harris was a member of St. Thomas (NU)51; Order
of Eastern Star (PHA); Sedalia Social Club; and was a member of the Zeta Amicae
Auxilliary of the Beta Theta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. She was a
sales clerk in the millinery department of Altschul's and The Famous Department
Store.

She is survived by her husband, Alvin B. Harris of the home; two daughters,
Barbara Harris Payton of Oakland, Calif., and Dr. Evelyn Harris-Wigglesworth of
Virginia Beach; a sister, Marion Green of St. Mary's, Ga.; a grandson, Capt.
Jamal E. Wigglesworth of Fort Lee, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at noon Monday by the Rev. I.W. Knight in St.
John A.M.E. Church, 415 E. Bute St., Norfolk. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery
. There will be a viewing today from 1 to 6 p.m. at Riddick Funeral Home. The
body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Monday. The family will receive
friends at the funeral home today from 1 to 3 p.m. and at 5653 Dodington Ct.,
Virginia Beach, at other times.
