Born in Spring Hope, N.C., she graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1948, and attended the Norfolk Division of Virginia State College, not known as Norfolk State University. She was a homemaker and a member of the Titustown Civic League. Mrs. Harris was a member of First Baptist Church of Logan Park, where she was a Vacation Bible School teacher, Sunday School teacher, missionary and a former trustee. She is survived by her husband, James Harris Jr.; two daughters, Hattie Maria Williamson and her husband, Carl, of Virginia Beach and April V. Harris of Temple Hill, Md.; three sons, James A. Harris III of Norfolk, Jerome Eric Harris and his wife, Nancy, of Virginia Beach and Lamont Harris of Norfolk; a sister, Lula Thornton; four brothers, Thee Artis Spivey Jr. and his wife, Cecelia, Tervoir Artway Spivey, Reginald Spivey and Garrie Spivey and his wife, Francyne; five grandchildren, Sean Harris, Natasha Webster, Carla Williamson, Lance Harris and Brandon Williamson; a great-aunt, Josephine Everett of Norfolk; an aunt, Thora Colden Spivey of Portsmouth; 10 nieces; seven nephews; 25 great-nieces and nephews; numerous special daughters and special friends; many dear cousins, in-laws and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Hattie Spivey and Artis Spivey Sr. A funeral will be conducted at noon Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Logan Park, by George Spicer. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery , Norfolk. Family and friends will assemble at 7459 Dakota Avenue one hour prior to the service for the procession. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday for viewing. Metropolitan Funeral Service, Granby Street Chapel, is in charge.
