A native of Coinjock,NC, he had made his home in this section for 55 years. He was a marine engineer employed by the city of Norfolk at the pumping station, City Hall avenue and Atlantic Street. He was the son of the late Samuel and Mrs. Sarah Gray Harris and husband of Mrs. Margaret Hansen Harris. Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Bryant, of Rich Square, NC; two sons, Robert L. Harris, U.S.N. and Russell E. Harris, of Norfolk; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Deacon of Norfolk, Mrs. Sue Walker of Maple NC, Mrs. R. K. Abbott and Mrs. Mattie DeVelda, of Norfolk; two brothers, Jackson Harris and Samuel A. Harris, of Norfolk, and seven grandchildren. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World. The body was removed to the Sykes Funeral Home, Berkley, where funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 4 o’clock. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park.
