Teresa was raised in a Christian home. She attended and graduated from Norfolk Public Schools in 1983. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Fashion Design from Norfolk State University. She pursued her dream of Fashion Design locally in fashion shows, creating costumes for Black History performances at The Attucks Theatre and, for many years, participating in VA Fashion Week. She customized clothing to fit her clients. She truly believed that it did not matter your size, your garments should be becoming to you. Teresa accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior and received the Baptism of The Holy Ghost, with the evidence of speaking in tongues according to Acts 2:4. She worked tirelessly in the Nissi Banner Ministry and many other Helps Ministries throughout her years as an active member of Endtime United Church and ate the fruit of her labour according to Psalm 128:2. Teresa was an encourager to all who came into her presence. She was also the Sergeant of Arms for the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association Kempsville Unit #99 for many years. She is survived by her loving husband Victor Daniel Mokoena of 24 years; 1 daughter, Malerato, and 1 son, Tshepiso; Godchildren Joshua, Valencia and Mikhail; 4 sisters, Catherine, Cheryl, Mary, LaRosa; brother, Dencil III; and a special sister, Dorothy; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews; a host of family and friends, as well as a beloved Church family. She continued working in her calling throughout her 16-year battle with lymphoma. She accepted God’s victory and entered eternity on April 10, 2021. Teresa’s presence will truly be missed in this earthly realm, but she is now with her Savior in Paradise, where she will hurt no more. If we also make our election sure we shall see her again. Altmeyer Funeral Home-Southside Chapel has assisted the family with local arrangements. The family will have a Memorial Service to celebrate Teresa’s life on Wednesday, April 21st , 2021, at 11:00 AM at Endtime United Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic (7416 Evelyn T. Butts Ave, Norfolk, VA 23513). A private entombment is to follow. For anyone who wishes to express their sympathy and condolences by sending flowers, please have them delivered to 7416 Evelyn T.
