'The Virginian Pilot & Norfolk Landmark, September 1, 1916 
Mrs. Martha Ellen Harrison, aged 45 years, wife of J. B. Harrison, died last 
night at 10:15 o'clock at the residence on Columbia avenue, Campostella 
Heights. Born in Norfolk county, daughter of the late Timothy and Mrs. Mariah 
Walker Gilbert, she had lived in the county all her life and was greatly 
esteemed. She was a member of Berkley Avenue Baptist church. She is survived by 
two children, Leonard and Lydia Harrison, and the following brothers and 
sisters: Mrs. W.J. Flemming, Mrs. Alice Hines, Mrs. Adelia Ferrell, Mrs. 
Alpheus Hampton, John, Virginius, Timothy, Charles, George and William Gilbert, 
all of this section. The funeral will take place at the residence Saturday at 3 
p.m. Burial will be in Magnolia cemetery
