CHESAPEAKE - Charlie Edward Hartley Sr., 78, of the 2900 block of Rodgers St., 
died March 24, 2002, in Norfolk. A native of Currituck, N.C., he was the 
retired owner of H&H Delivery Service. Mr. Hartley was a member of South 
Norfolk Baptist Church, Chesapeake. 
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Rebecca Spry Hartley; two sons, 
Charlie E. Hartley Jr. and his wife Rebecca of Washington, N.C., and Arthur A. 
Hartley and his wife Brenda of Chesapeake; one brother, Aubrey Hartley of East 
Berlin, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Cheryl Black, Sandy Murphy, Keith Alexander, 
Lisa Woolard, Michelle White, Terri Ainsley and Billy Hartley; and 10 great-
grandchildren, Brittany Black, Avery Woolard, Samantha White, Hannah Black, 
Patience Hartley, Ryan Ainsley, Sarah Woolard, Bridget Ainsley, Kathryn White 
and Morgan Murphy. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Hartley 
Alexander. 
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Graham Funeral Home, 
South Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Nelson Koonce, with burial following in 
Riverside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. 
Tuesday at the funeral home, and at the residence at all other times.
