Virginian-Pilot October 15, 1967
NORFOLK - Marine Pfc. Vernon Lynn Hartman Jr., 19, son of Vernon L. Hartman Sr. 
and Mrs. Shirley Chory Hartman, of 476 W. Ocean View Ave., was killed in action 
Oct. 11 at Quang Tri, Vietnam.
He was a member of a Marine Corps unit that left the United States Sept. 17. He 
had been in Vietnam only 14 days.
A lifelong resident of Norfolk, he was a graduate of Granby High School. During 
his senior year he was employed by De Paul Hospital through the Diversified 
Employment program of the high school.
Besides his parents, he is survived by a brother, Wayne Franklin Hartman, and 
his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin L. Chory, all of Norfolk.
He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.
The body is being sent to Smith & Williams Funeral Home.
