NORFOLK — Vernon Lynn Hartman, 64, of the 200 block of Louvick St., a retired 
foreman, died Dec. 20, 1988, in a hospital.
Mr. Hartman, a native of Norfolk, retired from Old Dominion Stevedoring Corp, 
after 39 years. He was a Baptist. He was a member of Norfolk Moose Lodge 39 and 
the Tidewater Boat Club. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Chory Hartman; a son, Wayne F. Hartman of 
Norfolk; a sister, Ola Ruth Dail of Norfolk; and two brothers, John T. Hartman 
of Follansbee, W.Va., and William J. Hartman of Norfolk.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, 
Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Paul C. Lawson. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. 
Friends may join the family from 7:30 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home.
