Shirley Chory Hartman , 73, of the 200 block of Louvick St., passed away in 
DePaul Medical Center on June 3, 1999.

Born in Welsh, La., she had been married to the late Vernon Hartman Sr. for 42 
years. A Baptist by faith, she loved to travel and was an active member of the 
Bayview Senior Citizens Club.

She will be sadly missed by her son, Wayne F. Hartman and wife, Michelle, of 
Portsmouth; and a sister, Louise Chory Powers and husband, Cy, of East Lansing, 
Mich. Her granddaughters, Ashley, Caitlyn and Ryan will miss their loving 
grandmother.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Elmwood Cemetery by 
the Rev. G. Scott Ranck. Friends may join the family from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday for 
visitation at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, and at her 
residence following the service.
