Born in Hampton, she was raised in Southampton County, and was a longtime resident of Norfolk. She was a former assistant manager of the First and Second Class Petty Officers Club at the Norfolk Naval Air Station. She had also been a sales clerk at Miller & Rhodes Department Store. A member of the Pythian Sisters, Temple No. 3, she was also a member of the Women of the Moose, Norfolk Lodge No. 157. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband, William J. Hartman Sr.; two daughters, Charlotte L. Hohman and husband, Daniel, of Ivor, Va., and Shirley E. Wilkinson of Virginia Beach; a son, William "Jay" Hartman Jr. and wife, Linda, of Virginia Beach; a sister, Mildred K. Singco and husband, Tom, of Norfolk; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Pearlie Joyner Rollison; two sisters, Marianna McKenzie and Rebecca Lowe; and a brother, Alfred J. Rollison. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Elmwood Cemetery. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters or to the American Cancer Society.
