The Virginian Pilot Tuesday January 2, 1962
Mrs. Carrie W. Harwood, 80, widow of Samuel E. Harwood and daughter of John 
L. and Mrs. Betty Newton Williams, died Monday at 1 p.m. in a Norfolk 
hospital.
Mrs. Harwood was a native of Southampton County and lived in Norfolk 60 
years, lately at 317 17th St. She was a member of Freemason Street Baptist 
Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Lillian Moss of Norfolk; two grandchildren 
and one great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be conducted in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments 
Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. by the Rev. William L. Lumpkin, D.D., pastor of 
Freemason Street Baptist Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
