NORFOLK - Jerry J. Harwood died May 13, 2008, in his home in Norfolk.

Born in New York State, he was the son of the late Maurice and Emma Harwood. He 
was an Army Veteran of both World War II and Korea. Following his military 
service, he went on to receive his master's degrees in engineering from both 
Syracuse University and Old Dominion University.

Jerry worked as a civil service engineer for 15 years and later worked for various 
private engineering firms throughout the area. He was a member of the Ocean View 
Knights of Columbus No. 3548.

Mr. Harwood is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jean Harwood; their son, John 
Harwood and his wife Lorie of Norfolk; his brother, Mark Harwood of Boca Raton, 
Fla.; his grandchildren, Reagan, Hunter and Lauren Harwood; brother-in-law, Victor 
G. Daley and his wife Marilyn; and sister-in-law, Margaret Daley; and by his 
neighbor and dear friend, George Higson.

A funeral Mass will be conducted Friday at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Catholic 
Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. The family will 
receive friends in the Norfolk Chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. today from 6 to 
8 p.m.
