Virginian Pilot December 14, 1900
Darius, the 11-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas W. Haskett, of South Norfolk, 
was another victim of the Norfolk and Western Railroad yesterday.  The 5:30 
o'clock incoming passenger train at the South Norfolk crossing struck him on his 
right side and threw him about twenty feet, causing instant death.
The particulars of the tragedy are unknown
The remains were turned over to Undertaker Williams, who removed them to the 
home of the parents and prepared them for burial.
The parents were prostrated by grief.  They have the sympathy of the entire 
community.

The funeral of the 11-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas W. Haskett, who was 
run over by the Norfolk and Western 5:30 incoming passenger train Thursday 
evening at the South Norfolk Liberty Street crossing and killed, will be 
conducted from the family residence, on Seaboard Avenue, South Norfolk, this 
afternoon at 2:30 o'clock.  The interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery.

Virginian Pilot December 15, 1900

The funeral of the late Darius Haskett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas W. Haskett, 
was conducted from the family residence on Seaboard Avenue, South Norfolk, 
yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. S.S. Lambeth, pastor of Liberty Street 
M.E. Church, officiating.  The services were largely attended despite the cold 
weather.  The interment was in Magnolia Cemetery.
