She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Richard Hasler, and her son, Arthur Richard Hasler Jr. Born in 1900 in Norfolk, she was the daughter of the late Moses Cason Ferebee and Nettie Spalding Ferebee. She graduated from Maryland College and attended graduate school at Columbia University in New York. After marrying in 1924, she moved to Mount Vernon, N.Y. There she was active in her church, serving as the president of the Woman's Association, Sunday School teacher and superintendent of the Junior Department. She also served on the boards of the Visiting Nurses Association and the Martha Wilson Home for the Aged. In 1946, she and her husband returned to Norfolk and became active members of Epworth Methodist Church. She was an officer and teacher in the Church School, a member of the Women's Board of the Lydia Roper Home, officer of the executive board of the Norfolk City Union of The King's Daughters, a member and leader of the Daisy Chain Circle of Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters and an officer of the Needlework Guild in Norfolk. After moving to Westminster-Canterbury as one of the first residents in 1982, she joined Baylake United Methodist Church. She delighted in needlework, oil painting, handmade greeting cards and bridge. She exhibited her oil paintings several times in the Boardwalk Art Show. Even in recent years, she continued her volunteer service as a member of the Board of Virginia Beach Art Association and a tutor to young children in the Virginia Beach public schools. Mrs. Hasler is survived by her daughter, Janet Hasler Dodson of Norfolk; two grandchildren, Wilson B. Dodson III and Lee Hasler Dodson; and two great- grandchildren, Jessica Ann Dodson and Katherine Berry Dodson. A graveside memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Virginia Wesleyan College. Cox Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
