Norfolk - Mrs. Sarah Hassell, 929 Marshall Ave., died Thursday, Sept. 26, at 
her home.

A native of Elizabeth City, she was a member of the First Church of Christ 
Holiness U.S.A. and served as treasurer of the choir.

Surviving are three stepdaughters, Mrs. Ophelia Wilson, Mrs. Doreth Hassell, 
and Mrs. Alice Boyd of New York City; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Green of New 
York, Mrs. Annie Morris, and Mrs. Lydia Spencer, both of Columbia, NC; and 
four brothers, James Bell of Los Angeles, Lonnie Basnight, Thurman Bell, and 
Floyd Bell of Baltimore, MD.

A funeral service was held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in First Church of Christ 
Holiness by Bishop Eugene Brown. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery. The Graves 
Funeral Home was in charge.
