Norfolk Journal and Guide, Oct 17, 1942
Funeral services for James Hassell, 53, 832 Howard street, were held October 
14 at Mount Carmel Baptist Church.  The Rev. P. P. Eaton officiated.  Mr. 
Hassell died on October 9 in the Marine Hospital.  He was born in Elizabeth 
City, NC. and had lived here 30 years.  Surviving are a widow, Mrs. Alice 
Hassell, and other relatives.  Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
