NORFOLK - Bessie Johnson Hassell of 2306 Ruffin St., a native of Norfolk and the 
widow of Johnny Hassell, died Saturday in a hospital.

She was a retired nurse and receptionist for a physician and was a member of 
First Baptist Church, Lamberts Point, and Huntersville Senior Citizens Circle.

Survivors include three sons, Cecil D. Hassell of Edgewood, Md., and Joseph J. 
Hassell and Michael Hassell, both of Norfolk, and four grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church, 
Lamberts Point, by Dr. M.R. Williams. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. A wake 
will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Riddick Funeral Chapel. Visitation will 
be from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. The family will be at her home.
