Funeral services for Joseph R. Hassell, 920 Mead street, were held October 6, at
Mt. Pleasant Church.  He died September 30 at the age of 67.

A native of Williamston NC, Mr. Hassell had lived in Norfolk for number of
years.  He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Church where he served on the male usher
board.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ora Lee Hassell;  a daughter, Mrs. Beatrice
Doswell;  one brother, Elder E. B. Hassell, New York City;  one sister, Mrs. Len
Whitley; three grandchildren;  and other relatives.

The Rev. Harold Braxton, pastor of the Logan Park Baptist Church, officiated. 
Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Riddick’s Funeral Service in charge.
