Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Wednesday, November 29, 1995
Alonzo L. Hassell Sr., of the 5500 block of Brookville Road, died Nov. 28, 1995,
in DePaul Medical Center.

Mr. Hassell, a sales associate, worked for Checkered Flag Toyota. He was a
native of Norfolk and a member of Faith Community Church, where he was a
soloist. He was an Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian Hassell; two daughters, Wanda Hassell-White
of Norfolk and Stephanie Knockum of Virginia Beach; two sons, Alonzo Hassell Jr.
and Clifford D. Hassell, both of Norfolk; two sisters, Barbara Guess and
Jacquline Short, both of Norfolk; five brothers, Walter Hassell and Maurice
Collins, both of Norfolk, Ronald Hassell of Virginia Beach, John F. Hassell Jr.
of New York and Robert Collins Jr. of Petersburg; six grandchildren; and a host
of other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in Faith Community Church by the
Rev. Olah Moore. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . The remains will be ready
for viewing at 3 p.m. Thursday. The family will assemble at the residence at 11
a.m. Friday for the procession. Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel,
in charge.
