Norfolk - Margaret Francouer Hassett, 96, died Feb. 8, 2014 at Lake Taylor 
Hospital. She was born in Milwaukee, Wis. and graduated from Lincoln High School 
in Manitowoc, Wis. She met and married James Coyle Hassett in Chicago, Ill. in 
1941. Together they raised their family traveling from Toledo, Ohio to Valparaiso, 
Ind., Kansas City, MO, Ardmore, PA, Norfolk, VA, Dearborn, MI, Grosse Ille, MI, 
finally returning to Norfolk in 1973.

Margaret loved traveling with her husband, Jim and dear friends. She made trips to 
Germany, England, and Ireland. She also loved her friends and neighbors in 
Norfolk's Pinewell Section and regarded them as extended family.

After her five children were grown Margaret worked for the Norfolk Dept. of Human 
Services. She also spent many years volunteering at Holy Trinity Catholic Church 
in Ocean View.

She is survived by her five children, J. Christopher Hassett of Portland, OR, 
Kathleen Franke of Rye, NY, Maureen Herman of Arlington, VA, Eileen Conti of 
Stockbridge, MI, and Daniel Hassett of Norfolk; and 14 grandchildren and 17 great 
grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be held at a later date in Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
