Funeral services for Benjamin Hatten of 1239 41st street, who died September 
28, at the Government Hospital at Oteen, NC, were held October 4, at the Rose 
of Sharon Baptist Church, with the Rev. I. W. Garrison officiating.  Interment 
was in Calvary Cemetery.  Mr. Hatten was a native of Norfolk, and by 
occupation an oyster shucker.  He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Evelyn 
Hatten, one brother, and two sisters

Note: obituary spelled surname as Hatton, but death certificate has Benjamin 
Hatten.
