Mrs. Dorothy J. Hatten, 54, 707 W. Liberty street, who died Saturday after a 
long illness, was given final rites Wednesday at Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall, 
with the minister, Luther Lewis, officiating.

A native of Norfolk, Mrs. Hatten was the daughter of Sherman Brown and Mrs. 
Penny Brown.  She was the wife of James A. Hatten.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery under direction of Pretlow Funeral Home.


Survivors include six sons, Henry A., Samuel B. and James A Hatten Jr. of 
Norfolk, Claude J., Forrest A. and Alton C. Hatten of Hertford, CT;  three 
daughters, Mrs. Doris C. Artis, Miss Alvendean and Miss Juana Hatten;  and two 
sisters, Mrs. Sarah A. Edmonds and Mrs. Hattie L. Allen, all of Norfolk.
