The Rev. H. C. Felton officiated. A native of Norfolk, he died Dec. 28 in a hospital after a long illness. He was a son of the late Edmond and Mrs. Julia Hatten and the widower of of Mrs. Dorothy J. Hatten. He was employed by the U. S. Post Office for 15 years and was a member of Rising Sun Baptist Church. He is survived by four sons, Samuel B. Hatten of Chesapeake, Clyde J. Hatten of Hartford CT, Alton C. Hatten of Fort Bragg NC, and Forrest A. Hatten of Inglewood CA; three daughters, Mrs. Doris H. Artis of Chesapeake, Mrs. Juan A. Jones and Miss Alverdean D. Hatten of Hartford; a sister, Mrs. Edna Northington of Norfolk; and 19 grandchildren. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery with Pretlow’s Funeral Home in charge.
