Virginian-Pilot  August 12, 1898
After an illness of about three weeks, Mr. Francis Hatton, a well known citizen, 
died at his home, on Virginia street, yesterday morning. Mr. Hatton was, at one 
time, prominent in the Democratic party of Norfolk, having served as Councilman on 
the City Executive Committee and having been elected Sealer of Weights and 
Measures. He had hosts of friends who regret exceedingly his death. The funeral 
will take place from St. Mary’s Catholic Church tomorrow morning at 9 o’clock.
